CLFF: The Rules

CLFF has been going strong since 2003, offering challenges to the Smallville Clark/Lex pairing fans. A new "wave" (challenge group) is posted usually six times a year, giving participants six to eight weeks to write stories, create artwork, make manips, or make fanvids based on the challenge.

This Dreamwidth group will be our active posting location for stories throughout a wave, where all are welcome. At the end of a wave, they will be collected on the website (per your archiving instructions, see rules). The interactive membership group of CLFF is hosted on yahoogroups, the CLFFgroup where we announce new waves, review each others submissions before the main release and give each other encouragement and advice.

The Rules

• All work must be main pairing Clex or pre-Clex. Clex gen friendship is also okay as long as they're not in a pairing with somebody else.
  - If you have a secondary pairing, please note that in the headers. (Especially if the other pairing is heterosexual.)
  - If you have Clark or Lex in another relationship besides Clex, you must warn for that, even if it ends in Clex. (Seriously, we've had some real issues before - people are here to read the Clex and it's very disconcerting to expect a Clex story and it starts with sex with somebody else. o.o)


• Waves will be posted approximately every six to eight weeks depending on our schedule. When one Wave ends, a new one begins.
  - Your entry (story or art or other) must be posted to the clff community during the duration of the challenge.
  - The challenge will be formally closed by the MOD at the end of the challenge period; you can keep posting until you see that formal closing message. After that message, no more stories for that challenge will be accepted (except during 'amnesty' challenges). A new challenge will be posted shortly thereafter.
  - At the time of submission, you are also free to crosspost your story to your own LJ, webpage, archive, or anywhere else. (I'm working on an AO3 collection for us.)


• Submissions include: (if not listed, please ask) (honestly, we'll take anything ^^)
  :: Written Story, Music Video, Recs Set, Icons, Fannish Essay/Meta, Picspam, Art, Manip, Layout, Music Mix, Podfics ::
  - Please put all work under an LJ-cut
  - All work must be new. It can be part of a series, as long as the series is Clex or pre-Clex and you link back to the rest of the series.
  - You submit as many times as you like for any Wave.


• All Waves come with a set of prompts. The prompts are there for inspiration and open to 'claiming'. If you would like a prompt, please let the mod know in the wave post. More than one person can have a prompt, and if you have an idea that isn't included, feel free to use that as well.
  
  All prompts are open to interpretation, in whatever manner you'd like to fulfil the prompt. If you have a question, or need some help thinking of possibilities, please contact us and we'll be happy to toss ideas around.


• You are required to warn for rape/non-con (even past mentions), dub-con, incest, character death/suicide, graphic self-harm, any type of sexual trauma, any type of child/domestic abuse, underage sex, and any other triggering themes or images. The other warnings are left to your discretion, though we encourage you to warn as fully as possible. When in doubt, please err on the side of caution.


• All authors/artists have the following archiving choices for each piece posted:
  Full archiving - Your complete work is archived on the site. The most preferable choice.
  Blurb only - Only headers, notes and a blurb will be archived on site and there will be a link to the story.
  No archiving - Posting/linking fic in comm only. You will be added in comm's memories, but not to the site.


• Post entries to clff using this template (note - this template is set up for html posting). Copy and paste it from the text box for your post. (Click in the box, use Ctrl-a to 'select all', then Ctrl-c to 'copy', and in your comment use Ctrl-v to 'paste'.)

I think it would be good to have this post publicly viewable rather than members-locked so people can see it before they join. But I hope this comm helps revitalize the CLFF. :)

Oh woops. That was the original journal default while I was working on it and I didn't realize that when I switched the journal over to open that the posts didn't follow along! Thanks for letting me know. Have fixed now. :)

Way to keep the fandom going! I just recently started getting into the Clark/Lex fandom and am glad to see that there is still love for it!

Welcome! ^_^ Glad to have you here. I started late into the fandom too - the good thing being that there's a ton of stories already to read, but the harder thing is fewer fans out there to create new ones. Those of us who are still here, though, will band together! ;D
